My Strange Obsession...

Okay, so the post title's a little dramatic.  I won't be starring in one of those shows on TLC or wherever they show it any time soon... but I do have a bit of an obsession with something.

I love me some cleaning products, people!  Holy cats, cows, and kittens... I'm not big into organizing, but man oh man... let me loose in a bathroom on a rainy day, and I'm a happy girl.  So when my friend Ashley asked this question on facebook, I was QUICK to answer.

Toilets:

Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner
This stuff is the bomb.  It comes in a few different scents... the "Country Scent" is good, and I usually buy that, but apparently there's a lavender scent!  Buying that next time. I'm a sucker for lavender scent when it comes to my cleaning products.  You'll see that as you go through this list.  It could be because they're usually purple (my long-favorite color) but whatever.  They're just awesome.

Clorox Disinfecting Wipes - Lavender
Yup.  Again.  Now, here's where I add a word of caution.  DO NOT MIX CHEMICALS.  Ever. Unless you know exactly what you're doing.  And even then, I had a chemist tell me once that she almost gassed herself cleaning a bathroom because she used two products at the same time without thinking.  So, be careful. That being said, it's okay to use different products as you clean, just not all at the same time. :-)

A good toilet brush.  Seriously.  Don't take shortcuts, don't use those weird disposable or flushable brush systems. Get a good brush with the extra scrubby loop thingie that is meant to go under the rim of the toilet bowl.  That sucker will ANNIHILATE the under-the-rim grungies.  And those grungies NEED to die.  This is the #1 tool for your bathroom.

Tubs and Showers (these work for sinks too!):

Kaboom Foam-Tastic with OxyClean
When this first came out, I totally thought it was a gimmick... until I tried it.  Then, I pretty much fell in love.  I will literally never use anything else on my shower again.  Not if I can help it, that is.  This stuff is MAGIC.  For reals.  I recommend using a brush with it, if you've got existing limescale or other yickies stuck to your shower.  We all do at some point, it's nothing to be ashamed of.  :-)

Lysol Disinfectant Spray - Crisp Linen
Once I've scrubbed and rinsed my shower walls (and allowed them to dry!), I coat them in a good spray of Lysol.  Again, common sense... don't mix chemicals, and allow for PLENTY of ventilation.

  1. Thanks for the suggestions... I'm always at a loss for what to buy as far as cleaning products are concerned (mainly because I'm cheap...hmmm). And not that it is intentional, but did you notice how most of your products are purple? Love it! I should go there, my bathroom is purple!

  2. Awesome recommendations! I must admit, I've tried the blue dawn and vinegar mixture that floats around on pinterest. It is A.MAZ.ING.
